Exciting news for Euro London! Meet our new Directors!

We are delighted to confirm the promotions of Veronica McGuinness to Country Sales Director –UK and Stacey Arnison to Country Director – UK.

Stacey and Veronica have shared details of their progression from Graduate Consultants to Country Directors.

How did your Euro London journey begin?

SA: I joined Euro London Appointments in July 2009 as a French and Spanish speaking graduate. Like many recruiters, I ‘fell’ into the industry having no prior recruitment or sales experience but the competitive and ambitious nature of the role interested me greatly and with a huge student debt to pay off, a career that would reward me financially for my hard work was impossible to say no to!

I started off in the London office recruiting for Multilingual Temporary roles across London.

VM: I have had an incredible journey so far in the 21 years that I have been at Euro London.

After obtaining my degree in modern languages, my goal was to work in the Sales & Recruitment industry, so when I saw an advert in the Financial Times for a consultant who could speak another language, I knew instantly that this was my dream job!

From Graduate to Director, describe the journey:

SA: Joining the recruitment industry during a recession was tough but it was the dedicated training and support from my manager and colleagues that saw me quickly climb up the company leader board. 18 months after I joined Euro London Appointments, I was promoted to ‘Team Principal’ for which I was responsible for day to day support for two other consultants and by 2013, I was promoted to Manager with responsibility over the Temporaries Division covering London and Regional Territories with a team of 6 consultants.

My goal was to have all the different divisions and offices working closer together to give our clients and candidates as much support and opportunity as possible and it was this strategy that encouraged my promotion to Senior Manager in December. This was when I took over the management of our Permanent Customer Service and Contact centre division, which is also the home of some of our Master Vendor projects.

In my new position, I will be responsible for all UK day-to-day operations, ensuring that all consultants are in the position to deliver results. I will be responsible for hiring top industry talent to add to our fantastic team, whilst overseeing all support functions to ensure a smooth and efficient delivery for both candidates and clients.

VM: I joined Euro London in 1996 after completing a 4 year degree in French and Spanish.  I was considered for both the Temporaries Consultant role and Permanent Consultant role but I was immediately drawn to the responsibilities of a Temporaries Consultant due to the pace and deadlines involved.

Resilience, hard work and a desire to succeed had all paid off!  This was the start of an amazing journey.

The temporaries’ division grew and went from strength to strength.  After a few years, I was responsible for managing the other temporaries divisions at Euro London, supplying multilingual, temporary staff for a variety of sectors including Financial services, Research, Client services, FMCG and Sales.

I progressed into the Senior Manager role, managing a team of six including two Principal & Senior consultants. After 17 years on the temporary side of recruitment, I subsequently became more involved in permanent hires, which resulted in the birth of two new permanent divisions at Euro London.

Tell us about your clients

SA: Our clients work across a variety of different industries from FCMG and Media to Finance and Technology. Our consultants are specialists within their fields enabling us to provide our clients with the best possible market knowledge along with the additional language knowledge. We have a prestigious and loyal client base which is continuously expanding year on year with us working with many industry leaders as well as exciting start-ups!

Our relationships are both professional and personable, giving clients the peace of mind that we will successfully complete the project in hand and exceed expectations!

With my colleague, Veronica McGuinness’ position of Country Sales Director, we are now in an even better position to ensure all of our clients are fully supported in all areas of multilingual recruitment.

VM: I have fantastic clients, some of whom I have worked in partnership with for over 20 years. I never tire of making that elusive placement!

Client relationship management is the most important part of my role. I have personally added many different clients from different sectors onto our ever-growing list at Euro London.

I pride myself in having exceptional client service skills and will always go the extra mile to ensure client satisfaction while ensuring optimum levels of service are upheld.

What’s next for Euro London? 

SA: We have aggressive growth plans for our European offices with a 60% growth target for the London office by 2019. With a fantastic office based right next to Blackfriars station we have the space and the ambition to grow whilst creating endless opportunities for progression for our existing employees and new hires.

Brexit and the uncertainty it brings has been at the forefront of our minds and so we are making it our goal to be the industry experts in how Brexit will affect the multilingual recruitment industry and my new role as Country Director will be heavily involved in this whilst ensuring that our consultants continue to eclipse the competition and shape the multilingual market we lead.

VM: The company is growing and going from strength to strength thanks to the dedication of our talented multilingual consultants and managers.

We aim to expand in most sectors of multilingual recruitment in 2018.

We can report an increase in the numbers of placements across the board and are always looking for exciting new markets to develop. 

Who has supported you through your time at Euro London?

SA: The Managing Directors of Euro London Appointments, Steve and David are huge advocates for encouraging career development and supporting their employees to reach new heights and I was absolutely delighted to be promoted to UK Country Director after 8 years in the business!

VM: My thanks go to Steve and David Shacklock who I have worked with over the years as well as the management team and consultants who have been by my side during my 21 years at Euro London.
