BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - CONTINENTAL EUROPE (GERMAN AND/OR FRENCH SPEAKING)
A unique opportunity to play a pivotal role at what is an exciting time for this rapidly growing, niche industrial supplies business. Recently backed by new investors and previously family-run, the business is embarking on a program of modernization and transformational growth.
With c.30 employees, it is currently a small business built on a reputation for quality, innovative products and an impressive, long-standing network of multi-national distributors in the UK and across Europe. The core end markets include warehousing, MRO and logistics, with further potential for growth in office supplies, packaging, FM, public and education sectors. Continental Europe currently accounts for c.50% of the company's sales.
Our client's plan is to double the size of the business organically within 3yrs, through enhanced key account management and a focus on new business development, primarily targeting distributors across these sectors. Significant investment is being made in people, product development, systems and marketing, including a new, best-in-class online offering. The investors will also be exploring M&A opportunities within the UK and across the Continent.
Our client is looking for a Sales and Key Account Manager of the highest calibre, with an exceptional track record in a related sector, to join them on their journey. The successful candidate will take a lead on shaping the sales and marketing plan for Continental Europe, take ownership of several significant, existing multi-national key accounts, and win new distributor relationships. You will ultimately be accountable for the region's growth.
Location: Nr Reading, Berks. UK
You will be accountable for the Continental European P&L and for delivering the company's growth targets. Furthermore, as a senior member of the team you will be expected to contribute to the wider business strategy, business planning exercises, and to nurture an enjoyable, professional and winning company culture.
Your responsibilities will include the following:
Shape the sales, business development and account management plan for Continental Europe
Implement best-in-class channel sales and account management practices, processes and structures
Take ownership of several key distributor accounts
Drive new business development efforts with Continental European distributors, large and small
Negotiate pricing and rebate structures to maximise sales and GP
Deliver best-in-class sales support service levels for our distributor network
Attend trade shows and supplier days
Provide product training to customer sales teams
Collaborate with the Marketing team to optimise growth across Continental Europe
Produce data-driven reports on the sales funnel, forecasts and KPIs
Regularly review the competitive landscape, identifying threats and opportunities
Contribute to and nurture a high performance, positive working environment
Build a close, collaborative working relationship with colleagues at all levels of the organisation
Co-own the delivery of the company's top line growth targets across all regions
