Our client , a groundbreaking European innovator of AI, robotics and Optical sorter technologies for the waste management sector, is looking to continue their expansion in France and the French speaking markets of Europe with a Technical Sales Engineer/ Responsible Technico-Commercial, who will work in the Paris /Île de France region or from Lyon/Rhône area , travelling to client sites on a weekly basis.

Clients may be based in France, French speaking Switzerland (Suisse Romande) or Belgium and range from small family-owned businesses with one facility to large publicly traded industrial waste management organisations.

You’ll spearhead French Sales Engineering operations alongside remote Sales colleagues focused on the UK, French, Spanish and Italian markets , who will collaborate with you on a pan-European basis.

It’s a fast-paced environment , focused on continually growth and you would play a key part in this , bringing with you combined commercial, engineering and relationship building skills.

You’ll develop new sales by providing technical expertise ( after full training) to clients across France and neighbouring Francophone regions , visiting client sites to create and develop the sales pipeline, qualifying and closing new opportunities. You’ll forge a deep understanding of the challenges that our customers clients are facing, evaluating their technical and commercial needs, building technical proposals and working with clients until contract signature.

In short, you’ll be an ambassador and relationship developer who will create a sound basis of trust for good cooperation and future business development.

Please see below the main responsibilities of the position :

  • Building long-term relationships with clients, providing technical consulting and advice on how our client’s products can align with their processes ( average 6 month sales cycle)
  • Assist in developing the French, Belgian and French-speaking Swiss markets. This will encompass market research, stakeholder engagement, and tailored marketing strategies.
  • Managing key accounts and projects in the assigned region,  ensuring consistent and meticulous attention to detail, active prospecting and up to 50% travel for client meetings and industry events ( more typically around 20% though, varying depending on the growth of the business)
  • Building an in-depth understanding of the recycling process and a technical and commercial level.
  • Identifying and prioritising new prospects by leveraging existing company networks and partners, market and industry research and cold outreach.
  • Visiting waste facilities for commercial and technical pre-assessment of needs and crafting proposals in line with our client’s guidelines and brand, coordinating with internal teams to validate and develop successful deployments.
  • Analysing and understanding technical drawings/process drawings.
  • Effectively communicating our client’s attractive value proposition through proposals and presentations, working with clients to calculate their ROI for budgetary approval of our client’s technology and services.
  • Improving processes , metrics, sales operations where possible.
  • Maintaining accurate pipeline management.
  • Driving to exceed individual monthly/quarterly/yearly sales targets.

Skills and experience required :

  • At least one technically-oriented sales experience , ideally within or related to, the manufacturing sector.
  • Fluency in French and very advanced/professional English.
  • Understanding of long sales cycles in B2B enterprise environments.
  • Ability to build trust and forge long-term relationships with clients by displaying a deep technical understanding of large-scale industrial processes and listening to customer needs/challenges.
  • High-level of motivation with a continuous learning attitude and self-start approach to problem solving in a position that is remote-based so requires a candidate who can work independently as well as in a remote team that is well supported ( see below)
  • Excellent communications skills for client relationship building at all levels within their organisations.
  • At least Bac + 3 level of studies ideally in an engineering /technical discipline.

  • Driver’s licence and own vehicle to travel to client sites in the countries and regions mentioned above.
